Current Character: Liz Sur'Shess and Kelsey Lapham
Member since: June something
Number of posts in the main Role-play: put together, probably about 100, maybe more
Please share with the admin the reasons you believe you can handle a second character.[b] I luffs RPing, and love making them a part of the crew.
[b]Name: Tikal Rawlings
Preferred Rank: Ambassador (not sure what rank that would be)
Position: Ambassador/Intelligence Officer
Species: Vulcan/Human
Age: 48
Physical Description Short brown hair, pointy ears, brown eyes, pale complexion. Medium height. Though she is nearly 50, she looks only about 35, due to her Vulcan heritage.
Birthplace: Risa
Hobbies: meditation, Kal-toh, chess, snowboarding, skiing, stellar cartography, other races
Family on board? none
History/Background/Education Tikal was born on Risa. And that isn't as odd as it sounds. Her parents (a Vulcan male and Human female) had been married for nearly a year. Their daughter was due to be born within a month. Thinking they had plenty of time, they took one last vacation to Risa.
Unfortunately, the climate didn't exactly agree with Marie Rawlings, and she went into labor early. 26 hours later, Tikal came into the world. They gave her her grandmother's name (Tikal) in honor of her Vulcan heritage, and her mother's last name to distinguish her Human blood.
Needless to say, the couple took the newborn to Vulcan first, to show her to Tivar's family. Grandma Tikal was as proud as a Vulcan can be, as was the rest of the family. They next took Tikal to Earth, where they settled.
Tikal lived on Earth for the next 7 years of her life- going to school normally, having friends, etc. Rarely did anyone bring up the question of her ears or Vulcan blood, and she hardly noticed it herself. Right after her 13th birthday, the family moved to Vulcan since Tivar's mother was dying.
After the older Tikal died, Tikal the younger decided she wanted to go to Earth. Though her family disapproved- she was too Vulan, she needed to settle dwn on Vulcan and get married, they didn't think it right for a girl to go wandering around the galaxy- Tikal moved to Earth right around her 16th birthday, and joined StarFleet.
She passed the Academy entrance exams without difficulty, and went on to higher things. Four years later, she graduated with the highest honors, and was first posted to a deep space vessel.
She first showed her knack for dealing with others when a mysterious virus appeared in the ship's computers. After several weeks of battling it, the 19 year-old Intelligence officer discovered that not only was the virus affecting systems, it was doing so with a clear intent. In other words, it was sentient. She succesfully established contact, and when the Captain was injured, she convinced it to release the ship.
Her next experience of note was when they encountered a hostile race. When they would not listen to him, the Captain summoned Tikal, with the thought that she might be able to convince the logic-using creatures to cooperate. After a few weeks of negotiations, Tikal, working with the Captain, managed to convince them to cooperate.
Many other such instances occurred, even in ordinary life with spats on board ship, and the crew gradually began to trust her judgement in matters dealing with crew interaction.
Eventually, she was re-assigned, and given excellent references to boot. Her ambassadorial skills came in handy, and eventually, she was sent to Earth for a briefing.
The Admirals who conducted the briefing were impressed by the 29 year-old's maturity and wisdom in matters of other races. As a trial run, they put her in as one of the presiding ambassadors for a trade dispute between two Federation worlds. She passed the test, and was put on the Ambasador team as a junior member.
As the years passed, she gained experience and wisdom, getting experience in dealing with many different races. She has been posted aboardthe USS Crudaigh as the resident ambassador.
Personality Profile: Tikal tempers the Vulcan logic with Human humor and emotions. She often acts like a full-blooded Vulcan- calm, cool, and disinterested, especially during her work. However, if you strike up a friendship with her, she's one of the most talkative, fun-loving people on the ship. She enjoys parties and singing. Unlike other Vulcans, she gets along well with humans and other races, and has none of the ordinary disdain.
Role-Play Sample: Tikal swung herself down from the steps. Her father gazed at her disapprovingly. "Is there a problem with going all the way down, then getting off?" he asked.
Tikal ignored him. He was just sore about her decision to leave. She waltzed over to her mother, and gave the woman a kiss on the cheek. As she was about to turn away, her mother grabbed her and held her tight, as if she never wanted to let go.
As Tikal made an ahem sound, the woman let go. "Oh. Sorry honey, but you know me!"
Tikal nodded soundlessly, a lump suddenly rising into her throat. She didn't want to leave- not now, not ever. But, she had already gotten passage on a transport. If she backed out now, she'd never get a chance. She scooped up her storage container and nodded to her parents. "I'll keep in touch. See ya."
She ran down the outside steps and headed towards the transport shuttle that was going to take her to her new life.
Your character is fantastic. Great background and she would make a great addition to our crew. However, my original rules stated:
Quote:
2. At this time, each individual will be permitted to play 2 main characters/officers onboard the ship and one civilian character.
Perhaps this is something we can reconsider on the board itself, or we can work on adapting Tikal so she is still able to be onboard and an active member of the crew while not necessarily being an officer.
After awaiting the results of our poll and discussing with the admin, I've made a change to the rules for third characters. She CAN be an officer in a position on the ship now! You can check out the rule change if you need to. So, let me know if you would like to switch her back to the position you had originally chosen or leave her as she is now.
Well, I madeher an ambassador. I'm not sur if that's a viable position, but I decided I might try it. Didn't go into much detail about the last few years of her life. Figured it would get kinda boring.
We can go with her being an Ensign (as you had originally created her) within the field of intelligence, with her main duties being an ambassador to other races that we meet on our journey. Hopefully, that sounds good to you. If you want to change anything with that, just send me a PM!
Can't wait to see Tikal "join" our crew in the RP!
