Current Character: Lieutenant Conrad Sharpe - Transporter Chief

Number of posts in the main Role-play: At least twenty, if you're not counting comm posts. Definitely over twenty if you're including comm posts.
Please share with the Admin the reasons you believe you can handle a second character: I believe that I can handle a second character as I often do have to double in the role play sites that I am on so I am accustomed to the task. I am also finding it a little slow here with just the one character and he's mostly cooped up with his beloved transporter. I also enjoy having more people at my fingertips and I love the challenge it presents.
Name: Cliff “Cliffo” O'Connell
Preferred Rank: Non Applicable = Civilian
Position: He is in charge of the Entertainment, so movie nights and such things like that. Kinda like a morale come showman of sorts. Is also something of a storyteller. “Activities Director”, he works with Senneh Orim in the lounge. Occasionally he does hold them elsewhere but the events are most located in Tenforward where its big and suitable.

Hobbies: Cliff likes to see how peoples’ minds work and he likes to socialise quite a lot. He loves reading and watching Science Fiction and Fantasy and he has an air for the dramatic or theatrical
Family on board? None, though he knows that his sister Laura might try and get aboard when can to meet up with him for a while
History/Background/Education O’Connell was born to Stephanie and David O’Connell in Kenya. Stephanie and David are co-owners and helpers for the Tsavo National Park in Kenya for most of their lives after their friend and colleague could no longer keep help of the park. Together with his sister who was born six years later, they were home schooled by their mother who often helped out in nearby schools. With this childhood, Cliff came to really appreciate the values he learned from Kenya’s people and how they’ve maintained their traditions over the years. He loves their love for their land and he’s glad he’s a part of Kenya as Kenya is a part of him.
He learned to speak Swahili as naturally as he spoke English over the years and earned many good and loyal friends along the way. He is a blood brother with a Kenyan called Joro and they still keep in contact. As he grew older and maintained his home schooling, he helped out with making sure poachers were not tempted to try their luck. He has always known that no matter how advanced they were now, people from many walks of life would still be tempted to kill just to prove they could. Poachers make a living from it, and together with his close friend and blood brother Joro and many other Kenyans, he helped to make sure no one was tempted.
After a few years, he found that he wanted to do something that was a little more challenging than what Tsavo could provide. With the promise he would return to take over when his father and mother needed him to, he went to see the world for a while before he saw the challenge that going into space provided. It wasn’t long before he found himself in the role of being in charge of the entertainment for the Crudaigh. It was thanks to Senneh Orim, of whom he met on a station some time back that he was on the Crudaigh. They were friends, and she managed to persuade him to move shipside. Joro and Cliff remain in touch and Cliff will often tell stories that Joro passes on to him or stories about his time in Tsavo National Park to the children on the Crudaigh.
Personality Profile: Cliff loves sports and working out; whenever possible he tires to put in a lot of swimming. He likes socialising and trying to work out how people’s minds work, though he doesn’t like it when people don’t put in effort to something that needs to be done. He likes a lot of entertainment criteria and he likes to have a good time.He reads and writes a lot in his spare time as it allows him to escape the confines of the ship’s hull without actually physically going anywhere. If he can’t have fun doing what he loves, then he sees no point in doing it. He loves the great outdoors, which came from very young age as such was his childhood. From this, he gained a deep love for the people surrounding him and the animals who resided in the park.
He has a deep distrust and dislike of anyone who hurts or kills animals merely for the pleasure of it all. Poachers don’t get far with Cliff O’Connell and he is just as passionate about animal conservation as he is about films, tv shows and theatre.
He doesn’t mind a challenge at all and will take the bull by the horns if he has to. He doesn’t mind pitching in for the team or doing the dirty work. He’s not too fond of making mistakes he can’t rectify and he hates being or dislikes those who are disorganised as he can’t fathom how they can find anything when they really need it. He also hates it when people do not clarify their meaning on something and he has to spend ages asking questions. It is the one thing that will get his temper going.
He’s reliable and hard working and very much a people person’ he’ll be happy to play the shoulder that people cry on of either gender. He tends to try and seek out the best in people and bring out the best in them and he also follows his Taurean trait of being determined and dogged in his project or whatever he does.
Whenever he does feel down, he can feel very under appreciated especially when others seem to ignore him. It’s not that he is an attention seeker – though he has been called that plenty, he just likes to know people do care for him too and that he’s important as a person and not just some tool on legs. Moments like these often make him insecure and his confidence falls through the roof becoming almost non-existent.
He can be annoying to some and he would be an ignorant fool to think he wasn’t. Sometimes, his caring and people person personality gets in the way of what they want. He can be heavy handed occasionally but not all the time. This can be taken literally or figuratively.
O’Connell is just generally a nice guy who is always there for when others need him most. He’s smart and has a great sense of humour; witty and has a charismatic air to him, particularly when he is feeling a need to be dramatic or theatrical. He doesn’t mind being distracted if he’s doing something and tries his best to go by a general “Hakuna Matata” attitude. He tries to not take things too seriously to heart but if the situation warrants it, he will be serious for it.
When he does get angry, which is rare and inconsistent, it is usually best to just let him vent as he is never all that pretty when in such a foul mood. He’s usually tough for anyone to get him to calm down afterwards. However, these states of anger usually never last that long. Senneh Orim is probably one of the minute few who can calm him down.
Other Personal Details: Is a little prideful of his appearances and usually can be found wearing robes as opposed to normal dress. He is weird that way. His sister Laura often makes them for him as she is a Fashion Designer. He only has facial hair on the jawline, chin, sides of mouth and upper lip which is kept in pristine condition.
Any Special Notes: Blood Brother with a Kenyan called Joro Annan.
O’Connell was situated in the Mess Hall, or Tenforward if one preferred, and he was usually found here. Either here or other places that people colonised in numbers. Usually places he and other civilians were allowed to be. Cliff had never been tempted to sneak into Starfleet territories… no matter how curious it could appear. He smiled softly and nodded to one who passed him by in greeting.
Cliff was fast becoming a known man on the ship what with his sense of humour, job role and his charismatic air. He was liked by most and hated by little… everyone had their enemies or those who couldn’t stand his choice of character. Cliff has never seen any reason to change who he is… he couldn’t imagine himself any other way. Growing thirsty yet again, he rose and stretched his legs as he went to the replicator. “Black tea, sweetened,” he said simply. He wasn’t in the mood for coffee even though he was a fan of the bean. He always kept a stash of a Kenyan blend about his quarters whenever he could get a hold of the fresh stuff. He didn’t slight the computer’s efforts but the real thing was always so much better.
The machine produced what he was after and he lifted the mug before returning to his seat only to find that a couple had nicked the table. They apologised but Cliff shook his head, grinning with amusement, “No. Have it. I’ve nicked for long enough. I’ll just speak to him over there. Looks lonely, don’t you think?” he smiled as the pair looked back to a lone male in uniform and then looked back at the English-African with smiles on their faces.
“Sounds like an idea to us,” the man responded, smiling and his fiancé nodded. “Have fun now,” Cliff said to them before making his way over to the man in uniform. He was either Medical or of the Science team judging by the colour of the cloth. “Mind if I join you, Lieutenant?” he asked as his eyes sought out the telling pips. The man jumped as if startled by O’Connell before relaxing slightly and nodding lightly.
“Not at all, Mr…?” “Cliff O’Connell,” Cliff said without preamble. He had evidently not known of Cliff, which was a nice surprise. Cliff like meeting new people from different backgrounds, it spiced things up a bit for him.
