History/Background/Education: Growing up, Jack was always fascinated with the way things worked. If anything broke down in the Carter household, you knew who was going to fix it! It seemed a natural choice, then, for him to study engineering at the Academy, and a natural outcome for him to graduate top of his class.
Since beginning his Starfleet career, Jack has gained a certain reputation for being an excellent engineer, if a little unconventional at times!
Personality Profile: Perhaps best described as the boy scout of engineering! Jack always likes to be prepared for every eventuality. He's the sort of person who packs twice as much as he needs to go on holiday 'just in case it comes in handy'. At home in engineering more than anywhere else, he is firmly of the opinion that the ship belongs to him; the Captain just happens to command it! Very adept at thinking on his feet, he's the sort of engineer that can fix any problem with a paper clip and two small pieces of string, so his reputation does precede him somewhat. A charismatic individual, he doesn't have any trouble making friends.

Well, now, Lt. Cmdr. Carter, we may have to debate who the ship truly belongs to, but your reputation has preceded you and I am glad to have you on my crew!
