Name: Alexandria Katharine Kavanaugh (Most everyone calls her Alex)

Birthplace: On board the USS Evergreen
Hobbies: More than she can count or name! She is fascinated by science and how things work, and loves to explore. Alex loves spending time on the holodeck trying out all kinds of new activities. She's been rock-climbing, surfing, deep-sea diving, and so much more (all with proper safety parameters of course!). Having learned alot about her parents' heritage, Alex loves exploring Irish and German folk traditions. Her dad has been teaching her some of the things about his Irish culture that he knows, and she has been using the holodeck to learn many German folk dances and instruments. She also has been working hard on Traditional Irish Step Dancing. Alex LOVES learning about just about anything and is always looking for new experiences!
Family on board?Provide details of any family on board the ship Her father, who is also the Captain of the ship. She also has a "nanny" Franala, whose job is to keep tabs on her, and help her when her father is not available. However, since Alex is getting a bit older, Franala is also planning to offer her services in the main ship's lounge for part of the day, which gives Alex a bit more "freedom." Alex also LOVES animals, especially new and exotic ones.
History/Background/Education Alex was born onboard a Starship and her life is among the stars. She could hardly imagine what it would be like to live on a planet for a prolonged period of time. Though she HAS visited various planets, including Earth over the years. All of her schooling has taken place onboard Starships.
When she was 4, her mother Katrione Melina Whitteker Kavanaugh became very ill and passed away. She has since been raised by her father, who also happens to have been the captain onboard the starships. Because her dad is not always able to be with her, Alex also has a "nanny," though she prefers to call her "friend" or "caregiver," not liking the term "nanny."
Alex is and excellent student in her studies, though she prefers to get her "hands dirty" by doing actual things rather than reading from textbooks, which is one of the reason Alex has developed an interest in science and engineering....they are "hands-on" kind of areas.
Personality Profile: Alex is very kind and often can be a bit bubbly and excited. She makes friends easily, but often struggles with deeper friendships, especially when she feels that people are only being kind to her because she is the captain's daughter. Because of that, she has also learned to enjoy spending time by herself, though she loves making good friends. Sometimes, Alex's enthusiasm and excitement and desire to get involved cause some trouble around her, as she weaves her way into places she shouldn't always be, or tries her hand at her very own "experiments." And being a typical 9-year-old, Alex can sometimes come across a bit too honest, as she is still learning the proper "decorum" needed to interact with others.
Other Personal Details: Alex has just acquired her VERY FIRST pet - a Tressym.

Alex stood beside Franala in the corridor on the spacedock. She was bursting with excitement as she waited for the arrival of Franala's friend, who was bringing three animals for Alex to choose from. Alex had only tweaked the truth a tiny bit, convincing Franala that her dad had given his full permission for the pet.
Biting her lip in anticipation, Alex watched a strange looking man pushing a cart in their direction. After he greeted Franala, he turned and smiled at Alexandria. After he pulled back the covering he had over his cart, Alex nearly squealed with joy. There were three very different looking animals in cages on the cart. The first was some type of bird, the second appeared to be a lizard of some kind, and the third a tiny kitten. Alex was immediately drawn to the kitten. Bending down, she began to whisper quietly to it.
"Oh, what's wrong with it?" Alex looked up at the man, as she pointed towards the kitten's back.
"Oh, my dear, nothing's wrong with it," the man said with a smile in her direction. "This is not ordinary Earth-type cat. This is a Tressym. It's a cat with wings." Alex gazed at the man in wonder, and then turned back to the tiny creature.
"You have wings," she whispered to it, "Would you like a new home? With me?" Alex reached out her fingers and the small Tressym let out a soft mew and allowed Alex to touch it on the head. "I'll take that one," she said as she stood up and pointed towards the Tressym.
"Excellent choice, my young friend," the man handed her a small bag and the cage, exchanging pleasantries with Franala once more before he headed off, leaving a furry little Tressym in the hands of one very anxious and excited young lady, who still had to explain to her father that she had acquired a new pet without exactly telling him about it.
