History/Background/Education
Caledon was raised in Quebec, Canada by Brenda Montgomery, a housewife, and Caledon Montgomery, a librarian. Both parents were very attentive and adored their son immensely. His mother especially donned on her son. She'd been told that she would not be able to bear children an after many advanced procedures, was about to give up hope when finally her miracle came. Caledon was born 7 months and 2 weeks later.
Because she feared that something may happen to him, Brenda home schooled him until he reached, what she considered, the healthy age for adolescent socialization; thirteen. To say the least the first twelve years of his life were rather sheltered. His mother would not allow him out of her sight. Studies were rigorous and all outting were educational. Cale didn't complain about his lack of social ventures for he knew nothing else, but when he entered high school he became increasingly aware of how behind he was.
After a year of what he now considers the black period in his life, he began to find himself. His wings spread and he began to make friends and find where he fit in. His group of friends, the self proclaimed 'geeks' of West Seattle High School, were adventurous. They all competed with one another, challenging each other and fighting to be the best academically.
It was during his junior year of high school that his mother turned ill. Because he'd been so close to his mother for so many years, her illness hit him the hardest. He had to watch her undergo many procedures. He watched her be poked and prodded, examined and scrutinzed by medical personnel who he believed could care less about his mother's well being. They seemed to view her as some sort of specimen which Caledon found to be utterly horrifying. Luckly because of the advances in medicine she was eventually cured of the crippling ailment that ravaged her aging body. Up until this point he'd been clueless about his life's direction, but something sparked within when he watched his mother battle her disease. No one deserved to suffer the way she had. He wanted to be a scientist. He hoped to one day find a better way to cure the ill. He didn't know however that he truly wanted to be a doctor.
After graduating from West Seattle Caledon didn't immediately go to college. He went to work as an intern at a local research laboratory. He worked alongside microbiologist, cellular biologist and chemist and after six month decided he wanted to pursue cellular biology. It was the most basic life form. It was the building block for all other anatomical structures. He wanted to solve the problem before it occured and cytology was the best way to do that.
To make a long story short, he obtained a degree in cellular biology with a minor in biochem. After that he completed a masters in cellular biology and since there was no reason to stop there, went on to pursue a medical career. After finishing his residency and working as a doctor for 1 at Harborview Medical, he decided, no was actually pushed, to try his hand at the academy. He was alway willing to take risks so he applied and was accepted. There he focused on all branches of science, graduating four years later with high esteem.
He went on to work with Starfleet, assisting on short term missions. His knowledge was invaluable it seemed and he ascended through the ranks from small ensign working in the Biochem department to Chief Science Officer five years later. He worked as Chief for almost a year before enlisting to tag along on the voyage with the USS Crudaigh. With his training as a doctor and being Chief Science officer overseeing all the scientific fields, he has his work cut out for him, but he can't think of a better way to spend the next few years of his life.
Personality Profile:
Caledon is many things to different people.
To his peers he's a laid back, charming man. He enjoys simple luxuries such as daddling around the pool or enjoying a simple game of chess and is usually the first person to suggest a get together among friends. He's gentle and nice, but there is an adventurous side to him that draws people in. He's a daredevil and isn't afraid to take risks with relationships. His son is the product of one very big marital risk. He won't make that mistake again though.
To his loved ones he's understanding. He's your shoulder to lean on, the 'old' man to receive advise from. Cale is loving and sympathetic. He tries his best to understand and will take himself out of his comfort zone to make you smile. If that means being maid of honor in someone's wedding or watching romance films with a disheveled female friend he will do it; and with a smile on his face no less.
In relationships he is passionate and tender. He's the short of person that plans in advance for a private night; wine, flowers and dinner included. He's faithful and loyal and will treat any woman he's with like a queen.
To his bosses Cale is a cut throat, no nonsense leader. He can be ruthless and mean, condescending and hard hitting. He's hardworking and precise, punctual and an over achiever. He does his best to show that he's the right man for the job and will do what it takes to advance himself within his profession.
Other Personal Details:He has been married and divorced once. He fought for and got full custody of his eleven year old son. He has brought him onboard the Crudaigh. He'll be an NPC for now.
Answer this Question: How will your new character contribute to the RP? How will he/she fit in with the others on board?
He will take every possible measure to assure that the science labs are running smoothly. He will interact with other officers, giving advice and forming relationships that will hopefully better productivity on board. Hopefully he can assist during missions as well, if not for scientific reasons than for medical.
Role-Play Sample:
Cale settled down on his bed, a silent command to turn off the lights leaving his lips as he slipped into a light doze. The day had been long and tiresome. The work stressful, but satisfying. Proving, each day, that he was the right man for this job was beginning to weigh him down. Any second he expected to be let go, pushed from his office in the science labs and forced to leave the ship because of some meager blunder he'd made during the work day. Surely the directions and orders he'd given thus far were satisfactory, but he'd seen people be taken to the brig for offenses he believed childish. Perhaps one day one of the science officers would find his demeanor too much and take it up with higher staff members. What then?
Stop worrying about this. You're not too harsh. You're doing your job. He had to remind himself. Leniency wasn't something he practiced. He expected the best from his staff and he wouldn't accept anything less. But perhaps he could take it down a notch. This wasn't a short term mission as it were. He couldn't rid himself of these people after a few short months.
Thinking of this he sighed. His eyes flickered open to stare at the bleak white ceiling. In the next room he could hear his son, Noah sleeping. His snores were the only sound in the small barrack they now called home. Not only was he anxious about his career aboard the Crudaigh, but his son's well-being as well. He complained about classes, about how small they were and how boring. Cale knew he missed life on earth. He'd snatched him from a comfortable life and brought him onto the ship without first asking if that's what he wanted. He wasn't used to this life. If he was honest with himself he wasn't completely comfortable either. But there was no turning back now. He had responsibilities and that meant doing his job and taking care of his son light years away from anything familiar. He could do this. He knew he could.

Welcome onboard the Crudaigh!
Now is a perfect time to join as we are just dropping off a few unwanted 'aliens' at a nearby starbase and this will be a perfect time to come onboard!
