Name: Joseph Munroe

Preferred Rank: (Ranks can be superseded by Admin or Moderators) Lieutenant

Position: Specify specialty within field if applicable Ship’s Counselor

Species: Human

Age: 31

Physical Description Height, weight, hair color, eye color, any distinguishing features
Joe stands at a fairly average 5’10”. He has light brownish-hair, blue eyes and an average build. He prefers a more polished appearance as he finds it helps him when dealing with those who need his services. When not on duty, you’re likely to find him donning more casual, comfortable clothing.

Birthplace: Berengeria VII colony

Hobbies:
Joe has a nice ‘collection’ of dragon tales and objects that adore his quarters. However, his most passionate hobby is that of old-fashioned photography. While current technology has made image taking a breeze, Joe had met a man on Berengeria who had crafted a revised model of an old-fashioned Earth camera, complete with a special developing ‘film’ from days of yore. The man, Wilfred, helped Joe create his own ‘camera’ which Joe still carries with him. He has a small collection of other old-fashioned cameras, most of which would never work in the current age of technology, but they still fascinate Joe none-the less. His favorite past time is to take his visit the holodeck and utilize his camera to capture vivid still images of different scenes. He has even been able to recreate a dark room for developing his special environmentally safe film onboard a starship both within the holodecks and on rare occasions in his own quarters.

Joe also has a great love of physical activity. You can find him trying out new sports, engaging in a swim around the pool, or any other type of active experience he can find.

Being a person who has always had people around, Joe loves activities that involve others, and is never one to turn down an invitation to something. He is looking forward to seeing what kind of people he will meet onboard the Crudaigh.

Family on board? Provide details of any family on board the ship None

History/Background/Education
Born to two kind and loving parents, Joe grew up surrounded by a rather large family on Berengeria. Being the middle child of a family of 9, he learned early on how to mediate conflicts and issues among his siblings. He had a chance to learn about many different experiences and problems vicariously through his siblings: choices of living, love, leaving, and everything in between.

With so many around, Joe was never lonely. He often spent time visiting the nearby Starbase situated in the Berengeria system with his parents and eldest siblings, or scouting the lands for a glimpse of the often unseen Draco Berengerius with some of his younger siblings. As he, himself grew into adolescents he began considering what it was that he wanted to do with his life. His parents, wanting to help him make the right decision, allowed him to visit with different people at the colony, until finally he found his true calling. All the years of mediating for his siblings, had given him an edge in the field of counseling and helping others.

The decision to leave his homeworld and head to Earth and Starfleet Academy was a difficult one for Joe, as he had never been away from some member of his family for any long period of time. The experience, although lonely at times, helped him to grow as an individual and as a counselor. After studying at Stafleet, including a few extended years to further his certification as a counselor for Starfleet, he was sent on his first mission.

His first position, as a counselor, onboard a smaller Federation vessel was rather uneventful. He made friends quickly and got along well with the crew, but their mission was nothing exciting. He soon transferred to the Berengeria Starbase, what he thought would be a dream position for him. It did not turn out that way, however. Many of his siblings had also chosen careers or families and moved away, though some remained on their homeworld with his parents. When tragedy struck on one of the nearby planets, Joe was forced to test his mettle as a counselor. The sound of despair and anguish met his ears when he arrived on the planet to offer aid. It wasn’t until he had been there for a short time that he learned that one of his own brothers and his family had been involved in the explosion. This was Joe’s first true experience with personal despair. Only one of his brother’s three children had survived the devastation. Taking the young girl in his arms, Joe made his way back to his homeworld, where all his family gathered to grieve together. Joe wanted to give up his position in Starfleet and remain on Berengeria to raise his niece. What transpired though, was nearly the opposite, when the young girl, who at that time was about 9 years old, told her uncle that she wanted him to help other people the way he had been there to help her.

After taking the time he needed to recover from the familial loss, Joe decided, with the urging of his family, and especially his young niece, to return back to Starfleet.

Starfleet quickly found out that Joe had a knack for stepping into situations when others had failed or there had been some loss onboard a vessel. With that knowledge, came many short postings and transfers. Joe would arrive on a vessel, help those whom he had been sent to help and would soon find himself transferred by high command once again. It did not afford him the time to truly make friends on most of these assignments. When word came to him that once again he was being transferred, Joe was not able to muster up much enthusiasm. Would this new posting be like the rest – sending Joe in to clean up the mess left behind before whisking him off somewhere else, or would it be different? With an almost resigned trepidation, he prepared himself to take on whatever new challenges this posting would present, onboard one of the largest vessels in all of Starfleet, the USS Crudaigh.

Personality Profile:
Joe is a happy, friendly kind of guy. He likes interacting with others, tends to not get himself emotional charged during any kind of disagreement, having learned to find a middle ground as a child or else be clobbered by a boatload of unhappy siblings. He loves to meet new people and make friends, though his recent posting hopping (moving from one post to another in rapid succession) has left him wondering whether the effort of making new friends is worth it in the end. He is a bit anxious about his current posting on the Crudaigh, as he has never been the head counselor on such a large vessel before, but he is also hopeful and excited to see what new challenges lie in wait for him.

Other Personal Details:
Joe loves a challenge, whether it be a person, a holodeck program or a puzzle. He finds that once he’s presented with a problem, he works on it until he can find a solution or resolution.

Joe loves activity, having lived on a planet that was not overly populated, he had much time to explore and run about as a child. Also, he has always loved and been fascinated by the protected Draco Berengerius of his homeworld ever seen he came face to face with one at age 10. Unlike some tales, the creature had not been vicious or frightening, but rather quizzical and beautiful. Since leaving Berengeria, Joe has been fascinated with the legends and tales of dragons and similar beasts from other worlds, but especially Earth.

Answer this Question: How will your new character contribute to the RP? How will he/she fit in with the others on board?

I feel that Joe would make a great addition to this crew. Since this is a second character for me, I also already know my way around the boards and will happily just jump right into things. Joe loves interacting with others so I’m hoping he will be able to meet most of the other crew in a reasonable amount of time.

Role-Play Sample: Please post a 1-3 paragraph role-play sample as your character. It can be about anything you choose, but it must be in character

Joe sat at his desk, his head cradled in his hands, contemplating the events of the day. It had not been anything out of the ordinary. He had seen some of his usual clients, talked with a few others who had sought him out, and even found time for a nice round of racquetball in the holodeck. It was the communiqué that sat on his desk that left him feeling drained.

The message from Starfleet command had arrived just a few hours ago. Since then, his entire afternoon had been ruined. He had even cancelled his last two appointments as he sat, hardly moving at his desk. They were moving him…again. He had only been on the USS Crystas for a little over four months. It was hardly even time to get to know any of the crew. True, he had been sent here following a mission that had left many of the crew in need of morale support and counseling and he had helped them all find their way back to their duty stations, he still felt that there was so much more he could do for them. The words from Starfleet Command seemed to swim before his eyes once again…

Lt. Munroe, you are being transferred to the USS Crudaigh. Following recent events we feel your services are in dire need on board this vessel. We realize this is short notice, but we need you ready for transport in 48 hours.

The missive continued, containing information about the fact that the Crudaigh had so far been unable to hold a head counselor for longer than a few months. Why was that? He wondered. Was there something unusual going on onboard that ship? No matter, orders were orders. Joe knew his place. With a sigh, he finally stood from his desk, glanced around the office, and made his way to the door. He had to report to his captain immediately, although he knew he would have already received word of Joe’s transfer orders. Protocol was protocol. Then, he would have to cancel all his future appointments and make quick work of packing. 48 hours…that was not a lot of time to say goodbye to the few friends he had managed to make. He hated goodbyes and sad to say he had had to make too many of them in recent years, with one transfer after another. Maybe, just maybe he would have a chance to stay onboard the Crudaigh for a longer posting. Now, that would be a pleasant change to say the least!
