Hobbies: Swimming, Fencing, Engineering, Reading, Being alone with relaxing music, Creating/Developing Weapons.
Family on board? Regretfully she has none.
History/Background/Education
Denara was born to a half trill mother and a human man. Even though she was only quarter trill she still displayed the trill spots for the gene was dominant and would last for generations. She had always been conscious of her spots though she was never bullied about them but she never felt like she fitted in any social circles. She looked like a Trill but was a human at heart. Since the age of eight; Denara has been training in fencing. At the age of ten her father's watch had broken and strangely Denara was able to fix it was ease. Seeing her potential he contacted Starfleet and asked a favour of one of his old collegues; a bolian professor to see if he could squeeze her in his class.
When Denara joined the academy she realized that she had a nack as well as a loves for weaponry and battle simulations. She was torn between security and engineering. She eventually decided that she would take engineering major but have lessons on the side in security. When she graduated she finished her fencing career. Once she had completed her training; the ensign was assigned to a weapon testing facility. There she got a promotion to Lieutenant JG for her skill. She realized after a while that testing weapons was only half the fun. She wanted to make them. She then was assigned to a passing ship named the USS Athena. There she upgraded the ship's weapons system and earned her second promotion.
When the Athena was badly damaged in a battle with the Romulans it returned to Earth and Denara was offered a job teaching at the academy. She accepted and taught for 18 months. An admiral who had been overseeing her teachings had informed her of the USS Crudaigh's mission to the Delta Quadrant and assigned her to the ship. She then left the Academy and joined the ship.
Personality Profile: Denara is relatively shy in the sense that she doesn't tell anything personal to anyone and never opens up. Therefore her demeanor is always of a professional one and rarely loosens up. She can keep a cool head during a crisis and works well under pressure. She is able to appreciate a good joke but couldn't string one together herself.
Answer this Question: Though not willing to share personal thoughts Denara will become friends with a select few people and learn to appreciate her Trill heritage and not curse it.
Role-Play Sample: It had been hours since Denara had entered the weapons testing chamber and she was yet to leave. She had been working on a new upgrade on the stun settings on the phasers of the security team. She believed that she would be able to make it stronger and more accurate but still would not kill the target. She sat on a small swivel stool that stood by her station. On top the metallic station was a the phaser and a small rectangular object that could read the amplitude of the phaser's fire-power. Placing it on a small podium she aimed it at the small device. Tapping a few buttons in front of her she watched as the phaser began to fire. The amber beam dispersed as it hit the reader and a quiet bleeping could be heard. This turned her attention away from her station. The bleeping had nothing to do with her. She was on the night shift and no one else was in the room.
Puzzled she question the computer with a clear voice. "Computer, identify the error" a moment later the computer replied with. "Intruder alert," Denara's eyes widened and her ears perked up. It seemed she would have a chance to try out her new phaser. Gripping it quickly she stood from her station and began looking around. Moving past her station she moved slowly to the next room. She stopped as she heard a creaking behind her. Swinging around she readied the phaser only to see it was the Chief himself. Why had the computer mentioned an intruder?

Ok – few points.
First thing that really jumps out at us is that your character seems to be quite insular. We don’t think that such a person would really be offered a job at the Academy. Also we feel that this might (if you really do roleplay this trait) make things difficult for you to mix with our other members.
In your RP sample you say that you are alone in Engineering at night, but Engineering would be fully staffed at all times. You may want to consider this in your post. Also I don’t think that Main Engineering is the place for a weapons test.
Also no officer would really be able to choose to serve on any post, especially the Crudaigh. Starfleet would order them to report – and of course, would only send the brightest and the best.
I’m curious as to how the USS Athena became damaged. Would you mind providing more details, I’m curious!
We also want you to realise that the focus on weapons will not be all your character will be expected to do. Any engineer on board will be expected to perform generic engineering duties. It is acceptable for your character to have a side interest in weapons design and development, but you will not be allowed to spend all your time doing this and not at all without permission from the section chief.
Also we have changed the rules somewhat since you were last here, so you may want to re-read them!

1) When I say she doesn't share personal things she's just very professional. Always calls people by their rank. Starfleet offered her the job due to her expertise in weapons.
2) I've changed it to a weapons testing chamber.
3) Could I say that she was asked to serve on the Crudaigh? Say that she had been teaching for a while and then asked.
4) Modified it to an attack by the Romulans.
5) That's was I had in mind. A normal engineer that did weapons on the side.

Thanks for the changes and for reading our rules.
I would just like to clarify our comments with regards to 1). It is important to understand that we in no way mind your character being professional – such things are the way Starfleet officers should behave. What we don’t want to see is reclusive characters. Your character does not need to be the life and soul of the party, but must be willing to interact with others.
If you wish to edit your application to show that your character taught briefly at the Academy before being assigned to the Crudaigh this is ok. So once you have edited this, let me know again and we shall look it over again.

I'll edit that it now. I'll just explain a bit more too. Think of her as Seven of Nine type of thing. She'll attend the parties but still be in uniform and wouldn't drink much. A workaholic I suppose.

Did you add in the line about being stern and sarcastic? Does your character really need these traits? Will they help you to become a valued member of the crew? Would Starfleet even promote such a person?
There is something that doesn’t quite sit right with the way you portray your father’s reactions when you fixed his watch. I think it would be more reasonable to assume that he saw the potential in his daughter and made enquires about the best way to help her become a Starfleet officer. If this was your intention, then I apologise, but I would appreciate if you could make this slightly clearer. If you did however intended something different please explain it.
As a final note, could you run your application through the spell check. Whilst I appreciate that it is not perfect (and uses the American spellings – not good for us Brits!) it does pick up a lot of mistakes. Of course no-one has yet thought to add Star Trek words to the dictionary, but we live in hope!
Almost there now I feel – so close I can almost taste it!
Oh - and for the sake of everyone's sanity and to avoid confusion for members new and old can you please use your characters name in the cbox.
