Starting Plot Summary

Starting Stardate 65628
Launch Date for Crudaigh: August 17, 2388
Main Plot started June 2008

10 Years have passed since the return of the Starfleet Vessel Voyager. Federation technology has continued to improve, though no one has yet been sent to explore the Delta Quadrant because no safe means of transport between the Alpha and Delta Quadrant exists. However, that is all about to change. The USS Crudaigh has been commissioned to carry top-secret equipment through space en route to the Delta Quadrant. Once there the crew will begin work on a special warp gate at a location that was chosen from the records of the Voyager journeys. Due to the advances in technology and warp drive over the past 10 years, what would have been a 23-year journey has been cut nearly in half. The crew of the Crudaigh is expected to reach the Delta Quadrant in 13 years. Once their portion of the time gate has been erected, space travel between the two quadrants will become almost instantaneous. The fate of future space travel rests in the hands of the crew of the USS Crudaigh. What will occur? Will they make it to the Delta Quadrant? Will the gate work once it has been built? Join us to help make this story come alive!

First Major Plot Event: Arrival and Launching of the Crudaigh

Stardate 65628
Date: August 17, 2388
Approximate Real Time Dates for this Mission: June and July 2008

Location: Earth Orbital Spacedock and USS Crudaigh

Captain Bryson Kavanaugh met up with his executive officer, Commander Liandra Jones in the lounge of the Spacedock. The two took a few minutes to get re-acquainted as they have been friends since their Starfleet days. As the two talk, other officers also begin to arrive on the Spacedock.

Ensign Matt Simmons, Lt. Cmdr. Charlene Brant, and Lt. Cmd. Rob Hudson strike up a conversation in the main lounge, discussing things about themselves as well as their ranks and current positions onboard the Crudaigh. Lt. JG Pesh'ewa arrives, orders some food, and listens to the converstations around him.

As Brice and Lia agree to meet in an hour to tour the ship together, Lt. Cmdr. Jack Carter, chief engineer, arrives seeking authorization for additional warpcores. He then agrees to lead them on a tour when they arrive at the ship. Brice and Lia part ways to take care of any last minute business, while the other officers conclude their business in the lounge as well.

Lt. Cmdr. Antino Vega is seen chatting with a fellow Starfleet officer, until he realizes that he should be heading off to board the vessel. Lt. Elizabeth Shur'Shess and Lt. Claude Daniels, each board the Crudaigh on their own to settle in and do some exploration before others arrive.

At the designated hour, Capt. Kavanaugh and Cmdr. Jones, meet up with Lt. Cmdr. Carter to begin the tour of the ship. Ensign Simmons and Lt. Cmdr. Brant join them as they are transported to the shuttlebay for a flying tour of the hull of the Crudaigh led by Lt. Cmdr. Carter. Back on the loading platforms, Cmdr. Boribeth Sunland, Lt. Cmdr. Vega, Lt. JG Pesh'ewa, and Lt. Cmdr. Hudson cross paths as they see the shuttle flying around the the ship, assuming they have missed their chance to board. Thankfully, Lt. Shur'Shess is already on the bridge, and she beams the four of them to the Transporter Room, where they all soon hear a shipwide announcement from the captain announcing the guided tour of the Crudaigh for any officer interested. Back in the shuttlebay, the small group onboard the shuttle awaits the arrival of anyone else who will join them for the walking tour led by Lt. Cmdr. Carter.

Meanwhile, Lt. Elizabeth Khalest Sur'Shess ventures onto the empty bridge to get acquainted with both her own station as well as the other stations. While there, she receives Cmdr. Sunland's call regarding transport to the Crudaigh and Sur'Shess beams the group to the Transporter Room. Sur'Shess takes some time to examine the crew manifest, hoping that when they learn of her Betazoid heritage they do not come to her seeking counseling. Upon hearing the shipwide announcement, Shur'Shess decides to join the tour of the Crudaigh.

While on the tour, the group has the chance to see and learn about many of the specific aspects of the ship, including the cloaking device and slipstream drive. During one rather interesting moment, Lt. JG Robin Star enters the shuttlebay floor unannounced and without permission, grinding the work to a complete stop.

At the end of the tour, Lt. Cmdr. Jack Carter presents the captain with the plaque for the new ship. At this time, Captain Kavanaugh makes Lt. Cmdr. Jack Carter his second officer onboard the ship.

Finally, after the crew has all settled in and all appropriate "fanfare" is taken care of, the Crudaigh leaves Spacedock to begin her mission.

Second Major Plot Event: The Distress Call and the Uridium Problem

Stardate 65640
Date: August 22, 2388

Approximate Real Time Dates for this Mission: July and August 2008

Location: USS Crudaigh and Planet's surface

After receiving a distress call, the Crudaigh travels to a planet to investigate the source. One life sign is detected on the planet. An away team consisting of CMO Boribeth Sunland, XO Liandra Jones, and ACEO Kelsey Lapham, beam down to the surface to investigate.

While there, they discover one man, who appears to be badly injured, and talking a bit garbled before he passes out. Commander Sunland beams back up to the surface with the injured man.

Meanwhile, on the ship, the bridge detects an object moving at high velocity directly for the away team's location. They try and beam everyone back quickly, but some malfunction only allows them to bring two at time. So, the doctor and injured man are beamed up first. Before Kelsey and Liandra can be beamed up a strange orb appears before them on the planet, casting them in a green light, and causing them both to pass out.

Once they have been returned to the planet, it is discovered that their bodies seem to be changing into the element of Uridiium. At the same time, the man they had attempted to rescue succumbs to his injuries, his own body altering just like Liandra's and Kelsey's. It is decided that putting the two officers into solitary confinement and removing any traces of Rubidium from the atmosphere should slow the elemental changes taking place within their bodies.

At the same time, a second away team is deployed via shuttle to track down and capture the orb so that the crew can figure out what exactly is occurring. After a rather involved chase, they finally manage to capture and bring the orb back to the Crudaigh. After examining and taking readings on the orb, the crew opens it up to investigate it further.

They find that it is actually a ship and the 'pilot' has also been affected by the Uridium. Looking closer they realize he was part of the Orion Syndicate, and most likely the orb was some sort of scam or money-making scheme. Having resolved the crisis, the crew is able to close the book on the Uridium problem.

Major Plot Event: Some Fun and Games and Holodeck Troubles

Stardate 65725
Date: Sept 22, 2388
Approximate Real Time Dates for this Mission: September and October 2008

Location: USS Crudaigh -- mostly within the holodecks

After some time in space, the crew of the Crudaigh is going to engage in some 'team' building and relaxation time. The adventure begins in the holodeck where various crew members, and most of the senior staff join in a special Holodeck Adventure game that has been recommended for crew bonding. Shortly after the adventure begins, the crew in the holodeck learns that things are not as they should be. While they are supposed to be finding a box that will hold something valuable, they learn that the holodecks are malfunctioning. All safeties seemed to have been disabled, and they are unable to stop or exit the holodeck program. During this time, many of the crew end up with some minor injuries and also begin to get to know one another.

One particular pairing that has merit in mentioning is that of Commander Boribeth Sunland and Lt JG Pesh'ewa. Boribeth seems to have a problem with the Caitian, something that has been evident since the ship departed. However, during this little adventure the two are forced to work together and actually save each other at different times. Later, Boribeth reveals to Senneh in TenForward that she was once on the planet of Cait, where the man she loved was killed by the natives, which has led to her extreme dislike of the species.

On another note, the rest of the crew engages in various other relaxation and bonding time. Most of the science staff attend a special holographic Broadway show, Alex and Joey attend a special carnival that has been created in the Cargo Bays, Ariel engages in some ice-skating and then a ping-pong match with Cliff O'Connell.

Finally, Lt. Cmdr. Jack Carter realizes that something is amiss, and while trying to make some repairs to the ship's systems, runs across Lt. Cmdr. Yulana Oxila who has just been transferred to the Crudaigh. Together, they manage to solve the problem of the holodeck when Jack has the computer cores shut down. This, in turn, allows those who were tapped in the holodeck to be free once again.

Major Plot Event: Planet Ostatak

Stardate 65780
Date: Oct 12, 2388
Approximate Real Time Dates for this Mission: October 2008

Location: USS Crudaigh and Planet Ostatak

After dropping off a dignitary, the Crudaigh travels to a nearby planet on recommendation of an admiral. Ostatak, as the planet is known, seems interested in pursuing a placement within Starfleet. After some discussion, and based on the information available to them, the crew opts for some R & R time on the planet.

Many crew beam down, including the captain. However, shortly after their arrival, the Ostataks take the captain into their headquarters, where communication is lost with the ship. Shortly after this, those who had been relaxing on the beach are attacked by the Ostataks and taken captive. Only three escape, Famke, Faith, and Alex, the captain's daughter. These three escape into a cave, which soon collapses around them, causing them to need to escape once more.

Meanwhile, on the ship, an Ostatak vessel appears out of nowhere and demands the Crudaigh leave and not raise their shields. After following the demands of this all-powerful ship, the Ostataks still fire on the Crudaigh, which causes widespread damage and injuries around the ship. At the same time, Lt. JG Robin Star begins exhibiting strange behaviors and hallucinations. Shortly thereafter, Ensign Kathleen Hyra also exhibits these strange behaviors. It is noted then that the Ostataks must be doing something to those with any kind of telepathic/empathic abilities on the ship.

Leaving the Crudaigh seriously damaged and the crew wounded, the Ostatak vessel leaves them. Sickbay starts bustling with the influx of injuries, and then engineering team works non-stop to try and repair the ship. The command decision to separate the ship is made by Commander Liandra Jones, in order to give the Crudaigh some chance of returning to the planet to save the 500 crew members who were on shore leave.

Back on the planet's surface, the crew of the Crudaigh finds themselves held prisoner in a cave-like vault. Each individual is wearing a collar that they have learned is supposed to stop telepathic/empathic abilities, as well as explode if tampered with. While the crew decides to wait and see if the ship is able to rescue them, the Ostataks show their heavy-handed tactics by taking Lt. Koval for an interrogation that leaves him battered and bruised. Then, they attempt the same heavy-handed tactics on the captain within the cell with a few well-delivered, powerful punches.

Thankfully, Koval saw much on his brief stint out of the cell, which them allows the crew, under the direction of Koval and the Captain, to formulate a plan of escape. Ariel Dawson soon realizes that she thinks she will be able to remove the collars using her borg nanoprobes. Afraid that it will simply cause the collars to explode, the captain denies this idea. However, Ariel carries out her own tests and finds that she can, in fact, disable the collars. She removes her collar and Matt's collar.

This however, coincides with the return of the Ostataks, who upon seeing Matt without his collar, take him for questioning and a beating. At this time, the Captain agrees to have Ariel remove all the collars and Koval provides some rods as weapons that he was carrying within his cloak. When the Ostataks return with the beaten form of Matt, the crew attacks, quickly taking down the guards.

After an exploration of the compound, the crew find more collars and learn how to activate them and use them as explosives. The captain leads the able crew out onto the grounds to find the tower and disable the device they know is located there. The crew fights their way across the courtyard and up the tower. Brice finally breaks free and makes it to the top of the tower, where he activates one of the explosive collars. However, before he can get away, he is attacked by one of the Ostataks and the trigger device drops, causing the tower to explode, sending Brice and the Ostatak down the stairs where Lt. Liz Shur'Shess is also crushed by the tumbling tower.

As soon as the device explodes, the Crudaigh stardrive, which has returned to fight and rescue her crew, begins to pick up on the signal of the crew on the planet. The rescue then begins.

Most of the crew are seriously injured and beamed directly to Sickbay Ward 3, where Commander Boribeth Sunland awaits them. It appears that the captain is the most gravely injured and is barely hanging on to life when he arrives on the ship. Even with treatment, Brice's lifesigns actual fail, causing Commander Sunland to perform and emergency "old school" type surgery to save his life. During this time Alex, Brice's daughter, and Liandra, as well as many of the crew, wait to see the outcome of this surgery.

During the wait, Sunland and her crew treat many other injuries including broken bones, internal injuries, and serious trauma. Also four causalities from the planet arrive. During this time, Boribeth and Jack, chief engineer spend a bit of time together, and Boribeth trusts Jack with the repairs of her leg. It seems that a relationship is forming between the two as things get a bit more personal.

Meanwhile, Brice begins to recover from his injuries, and after a few more procedures and rest, Boribeth releases him from sickaby. He heads off to his quarters where Lia had taken Alex hours earlier. All the rest of the injured are also released from Sickbay and the ship begins to limp its way towards Starbase 327 for repairs.

(The recovery after this will be summarized in another post!)

Major Plot Event: Recovery and Repairs

Stardate 65799
Date: Oct 19, 2388
Approximate Real Time Dates for this Mission: November 2008

Location: USS Crudaigh and Starbase 327

Following the return of all the crew to the ship, the Crudaigh sets out for Starbase 327 to undergo repairs. During this time many of the crew have a chance to sit back, take stock, and look over their current situations.

Some notable encounters and interactions from this time:

Brice and Lia discuss the events of the Ostatak mission together in quarters, and their relationship seems to be developing.

Jack and Boribeth spend some solitary, bonding time together in the Holodeck, where Boribeth tries to come to terms with the loss of her love from years before.

Ensign Lyndora Bevile struggles with memories from her past.

Ensign Joey Vista and Ensign Famke Christensen meet in the corridors, where Joey passes on some of her kind words she has prepared for the crew. Joey also pays a visit to the captain to do likewise and beams many of her other messages to the crews' quarters.

Many interactions take place within TenForward:

  • Kelsey and Senneh talk together. Senneh is still not feeling her top form.

  • Robin and Lyndora speak together and seem to begin a friendship

  • Koval strikes up a conversation with Lt. Sorjei Endilev (Chief Science Officer) -- (who is later replaced by Lt. Balazar Jos)

  • Pesh'ewa joins Kesley and Senneh. However, soon signs of Senneh's illness become apparent. And after she collapses on the floor of Tenforward, Boribeth goes to aid her, calling over Pesh'ewa to inquire about Senneh's condition, since he had seen her last. What ensues is a shock to all. In trying to help, Pesh'ewa tells a tale about his homeland of Cait. This send Boribeth into a rage as she recalls her own horrifying experience on the planet. After some heated words are exchanged, Boribeth lunges for Pesh'ewa, trying to strangle him. The two are quickly pulled apart and thrown in the brig.

Once in the brig, Pesh'ewa and Boribeth begin to talk, and the details of the events on Cait are revealed. The two are more connected then they realized, as Pesh'ewa's brother had tried to intervene in the attack on the humans, but lost his own life that day. When Pesh'ewa realizes this, it seems that he is shocked, however, it is learned that he is suffering from a form of distress due to the strangulation attack. Ensign Vahtter, medic, is called in and saves Pesh'ewa from further harm. Commander Jones comes in, speaks to the two, dismisses Pesh'ewa with a promise that he will receive his punishment soon. Once, it is just the two women and the security guard, Boribeth reveals the real truth behind what happened. In the chaos of the attack on Cait, she had killed the man she loved. Lia states that Boribeth will remain in the Brig until the following morning and an appropriate punishment will be meted out the following day.

Meanwhile, in other parts of the ship...

Marcel Darby has had a chance to visit the bridge under a tour from Yulana Oxila. However, due to some sudden 'needs' he hurries away and enters the science labs, where Ensign Kathleen Hyra, Ensign Matt Simmons, Lt. Faith Benedict, and Ariel Dawson are gathered. Marcel and Kathleen seem to hit it off from the start, but he soon leaves the labs due to previous interactions with Ariel that did not turn out so well.

Kathleen also leaves to visit some of the animals on the ship. Afterwards, she runs into Ensign Calleigh Caine in Tenforward. After a brief talk, the two are joined by the new Science Chief, Lt. Balazar Jos. Who talks with them briefly before heading off to a staff meeting.

Also, other new arrivals to the ship at starbase include: Chief Intelligence Officer: Lt. Sardac Darkheart; Chief Security Officer: Lt. Cmdr. Topak; Ships Counselor: Lt. Daniel Gallagher; and Nurse: Ensign Aurora Banes

While the new arrivals are coming aboard, the crew is also mourning the loss of 7 souls who perished in the attack at Ostatak. The senior staff and many of the crew arrive in sickbay to pay their respects. Marcel Darby and the Captain each give a moving tribute to the deceased before the gathering breaks up.

Following this memorial, Boribeth and Jack meet in her office, where their relationship continues to grow as Boribeth reveals to him what occurred with Pesh'ewa the previous day.

Also, after leaving the memorial, Brice has a momentary breakdown. He has realized just how close he had come to being the 8th body at the memorial service. Thankfully, his friend and executive officer, joins him for a moving moment in the turbolift.

Shortly after these events, all senior staff and assistant department heads are called to a staff meeting. After a quick re-cap of what has occurred recently, the crew is informed that they will need to gather two items in order to continue their mission that the starbase does not have: Cyranium and phase coils for a graviton generator. Plans are made for two away teams to go out and find these needed supplies. While various crew were chosen for the mission, one individual of note is that the Captain has chosen himself to go. Also at the meeting, tensions are felt between many of the officers, one of note - New chief of security Topak and Boribeth. Topak seems to want to antagonize Boribeth and further an investigation of what occurred in the brig even though Commander Jones had already given out her decision.

Following the staff meeting, Brice and Lia have some heated words over his decision to join the away team. She feels it is foolish and he feels that he needs to prove to himself that he can still be a fine captain. It appears as though his encounter at Ostatak has left him emotionally scarred, even to the point of considering resignation. As they exchange words, something else blossoms between them, and the feelings that both had kept unknowingly hidden since their academy days emerge, leading to their first real kiss.

Meanwhile, on the starbase various crew members are out and about including Alex, who happens up Lt. Conrad Sharpe. The two engage in a bit of 'shopping' as Alex hopes to find a present for her dad. Of other note is the male-bonding experience shared by Vahtter and Pesh'ewa. The two head off together to get some "Terran" style tattoos. A true friendship seems to have blossomed between them both.

Lt. JG. Star and Lt. Sur'Shess interact in the holodeck before the senior staff meeting. Then, following the senior staff meeting, the two engage in conversation on the bridge, as well.

Plot Event: Coils, Cyranium and Civil War

Stardate 65813
Date: October 24, 2388
Approximate Real Time Dates for this Mission: November/December 2008

Location: Starbase 327, USS Crudaigh, Planets: Corelia and Xyanthi

Two away teams are dispatched because the Crudaigh, which is docked at the Starbase is in need of Cyranium and phase coils for a graviton generator in order for them to be able to continue their mission. Following the events of Ostatak and needed to prove things to himself, Brice determines that he will be part of this mission. He is joined on his team by Jack Carter and Trixie Dray. The other team, who go in search of the cyranium is comprised of Lt. Balazar Jos, Ensign Matt Simmons, and Lt. Cmdr. Topak.

It doesn’t take long for the away teams to arrive in the shuttle bay and begin prepping the shuttlecrafts for departure. However, it is noted that Lt. Trixie Dray’s attitude towards Jack and the captain once he arrives is not overly positive. The shuttle trip itself for both teams is uneventful, some talk among the away team members, but otherwise all goes well.

The team to Corelia arrives without any major problems, and Ensign Simmons gathers up the Cyranium, while Lt. Balazar and Lt. Cmdr. Topak assist and keep watch. Nothing happens on their journey and they are soon back on the shuttle on their way back to the Starbase. However, once they arrive they realize the Crudaigh has left, due to the circumstances surrounding the other away team.

Meanwhile the other Away team arrives on Xyanthi. There they meet Grumly, a Llmye. These native peoples are friendly to the away team and Grumly takes them to his warehouse where, in exchange for information, he agrees to give them the coils they need. While there, he also invites them to sup with he and his wife. Unable to refuse, the away team joins Grumly’s wife Bramy for a short meal, while Grumly loads the coils on the shuttle. He returns, however, with grim news. The away team must leave immediately, something is wrong.

They don’t make it far before Jack informs Brice that the shuttle has left the planet because it was under fire. Then, almost instantly, the warehouse is under attack and the building begins to collapse. Brice ends up caught right in the middle of the building and gets stuck. Trixie’s quick thinking, however, saves his life, but traps her under a heavy beam.

After a few minutes of frantic searching, Brice and Jack manage to find Trixie, who is seriously hurt. She wishes them to leave her behind, but neither man is willing or able to do that. Instead, Jack goes off searching for any useful supplies, while Brice tries to keep watch over Trixie. Having found some supplies, Jack administers a hypospray for pain which happens to knock Trixie out as well. As the two men chat for a short while, they hear noises. Then, they hear voices. Through the voices they learn that there are two factions on the planet, the Llmyes and the Bradacs. The Bradacs have attacked the warehouse to destroy Grumly and all those inside. Keeping silent, the away team manages to avoid detection. The two men keep watch through the night. When morning comes, the Bradacs return, this time knowing that the away team was there and seeking them out. There is not stopping them this time. Brice, Jack, and Trixie, now awake again, prepare for the attack. Brice stands guard over the injured Trixie and fires when the first Bradac appears. Just as more Bradacs approach, the Crudaigh arrives and beams out Jack and Brice. As soon as Brice realizes that Trixie has not come with them, he orders a team back to the surface who quickly dispatch the Bradacs and work to rescue the injured officer.

All the while that these things are taking place for the two away teams, various things are also happening on the Crudaigh itself.

Rear Admiral Tristan Haynes arrives at Starbase 327, sent by Starfleet to investigate the goings on that have taken place so far on the Crudaigh. With so many problems and such major repairs already needed for such a new ship on such an important mission, Starfleet is concerned that they have chosen the wrong crew. Tristan’s job is to interview, observe and make a judgment on the continuation of the Crudaigh’s mission. After reviewing his notes overnight at the Starbase, he contacts the Crudaigh and is met by Lt. JG Robin Star who proceeds to lead him to the bridge. There, Tristan moves into the Captain’s ready room to begin his investigations. He has a chance to meet with Liandra Jones, Daniel Gallagher, Marcel Darby, Kelsey Lapham, Vahtter, Liz Sur’shess, Robin Star, Tikal Rawlings, and Famke Christensen before he decides to investigate the ship a bit more. Due to news he hears regarding Alex Kavanaugh (summarized below), he heads to sickbay, where he encounters Boribeth Sunland and Koval. He delivers a strange message to Boribeth from another admiral, which seems to cause her some distress. Shortly after this, Tristan receives a message from Starfleet that calls him away. He leaves his assistant, Lt. Scott T. Hireen behind in his place.

Alex Kavanaugh, who had been exploring the Starbase with Lt. Conrad Sharpe, returns to the ship with her art supplies and learns that her father has left on an away mission without saying goodbye. The young girl is rather distressed by this news and seeks out Lia. Lia, at Brice’s wishes, comes to stay with Alex in her quarters. They opt to watch an old-fashioned movie together. Alex picks Sleeping Beauty, a movie she has never seen before. Throughout the movie, she becomes distressed with the idea of death, especially that of her father, whom she had come close to losing during the Ostatak mission. Lia, her thoughts centered around Brice in a different way, hardly pays attention to the movie until Alex becomes distressed by it. Following the movie, Alex falls asleep on the floor with Lia. Throughout the night she experiences some nightmares and even manages to sleep-walk her way to the sofa by morning.

At other locations around the ship Marcel Darby does a bit of swimming in the pool and is joined by Famke Christensen. During their swimming encounter, Famke jumps in the water and manages to lose her bathing suit top, which Darby rescues for her. After Famke leaves, Marcel is joined by Lt. Daniel Gallagher. The two men chat about various things before leaving the pool.

Boribeth is forced to undergo more questions from Koval regarding what happened between her and Lt. JG Pesh’ewa and is informed of her punishment by Liandra – a special holodeck program that they will engage in together. Boribeth finally manages to head to her own room to sleep in her own real bed. While there she is plagued by some nightmares. She removes her special prosthetic leg and replaces it with a more standard one, as it seems to be connected in some way to her nightmares. She also withdraws a knife and carries it with her to her couch, contemplating different things. She is interrupted in her contemplation by Liandra who contacts her to inform her that their ‘punishment’ holodeck sessions are ready. Boribeth prepares to leave her quarters and throws the knife with force into the wall, where it remains, stuck fast.

Boribeth meets Liandra in the holodeck to begin the special ‘training’ program, which is designed to help the individual face their fears and learn more about themselves. The first part of the program, however, involves allow the tutee to trust the tutor. So, in this program, Lia shows Boribeth one of her worst fears. The two women find themselves reliving a moment from Lia’s days at the academy. During her special training sim there, she is expected to make decisions regarding life and death. However, the sim is set up so that she believes that what is happening is real and not a simulation. During her memory, which we all get to glimpse with Boribeth, the academy is attacked, Lia finds a fellow cadet injured and tries to help her. Doctors and more cadets arrive, one of them being Brice. The other cadets move into the room to search for other survivors. More problems with the building and Lia is forced to make a terrible decision. Close the doorway into the room where the other cadets had gone, leaving them to die due to a terrible gas, or leave the door open and risk killing everyone at the academy. Her heart-wrenching decision shows what commanders are made of, and also where her heart truly lies. The interruption of the admiral seeking a meeting with Lia ends this moving experience between the two women. Boribeth heads to her quarters for a nap, while Lia heads to the bridge to meet the Admiral.

In other areas of the ship, Ensign Joey Vista engages in recreating a favorite stage performance of hers on the holodeck. There, she is joined by Lt. Patrick Davidson. The two dance together and enjoy some friendly conversation, which allows both to reflect and remember various things.

Lt. JG Pesh’ewa is working diligently in engineering and is soon joined by Lt. Valad Tavik and Lt. Kelsey Lapham. While all seems to be going well aboard the ship, they receive a message that something is not working properly on the shuttlebays. The three head off to make any repairs together. While in the shuttlebay, the shuttle that carried Brice, Jack, and Trixie returns with the coils inside, but noone else. The logs reveal that the ship was fired upon and following its programming tried to reach the away team, but failing to do so, it returned to the ship. The engineers alert those who need to know of the arrival of the empty shuttle.

Calleigh Caine, reflecting in her quarters, believes she is no longer cut out for security. In another area of the ship, Ariel Dawson and Lt. Conrad Sharpe interact and learn much about each other while working on and around the main transporters. Robin Star, after a long time up and about, finally returns to his quarters to get some rest, only to be plagued by some serious nightmares of a fire. Senneh Orim and Cliff O’Connell spend some time together talking in Senneh’s quarters. After all that had happened to Senneh, she is very untrusting of the medical community on the ship. She vows to learn more about medicine herself, so she will have to rely less on the doctors and medics onboard, whom she has come to distrust. During their chat, Ensign Kathleen Hyra arrives to see how Senneh is doing. In her arms she carries a parrot that needs a new home. Cliff is instantly attracted to the small bird and after a short chat agrees to take the lovely creature into his home.

Ten Forward is the sight of another interesting event. Ensign Vahtter, celebrating his ‘coming of age’ in Denobulan culture organizes his very own party in Ten Forward, complete with music, decorations, and special devices that allow for enjoyable hallucinations. Lt. Daniel Gallagher, Ensign Tikal Rawlings, Alex Kavanaugh, Marcel Darby, and Ensign Joey Vista join in the festivities in various ways. Daniel seems to enjoy the music, the people, and the beverages. Tikal, having arrived in Ten Forward to do a bit of reading on the planets the away teams had gone to, is surprised by the party going on. After much coaxing from Vahtter, Tikal finally joins him on the dance floor for a spell. Alex arrives after having had a bad day at school where she had nearly fallen asleep, only to think about leaving as she didn’t think she was allowed to be at the party. The arrival of Marcel Darby, however, changes her attitude. He encourages her to stay and they both enjoy a few fruity drinks as they watch the other party-goers and listen to Vahtter announce the reason for the party. Joey also joins the party, talking and having a nice time with the others.

Alex, curious about the party, wonders if she is allowed to dance. Vahtter, after a bit of fancy acrobatics, comes to her side and encourages her to join in the fun. Soon, everyone is having a great time. However, Alex grows weary and heads to one of the sofas by the windows to do a bit of star-gazing, where she falls asleep. Darby, who seemed to have a connection to the young girl, comes over to check on her and covers her with his suit jacket. All goes on as it should until Alex finds herself in the throes of yet another nightmare. This time she sees her dad, hurt, alone, and dying on the away mission. Crying out in fear and anguish, she falls off the sofa and ends up entangled in Darby’s coat. He quickly comes to her rescue, picking her up and carrying her out of the prying eyes of the others into the corridor to try and help her calm down. Joey soon joins them. While Alex fights the images she saw in her mind, struggling with the fear and anxiety they caused, Darby and Joey seem to have a bit of a falling out over the best way to handle the situation. While Alex contemplates going for a shuttle to go after her dad, her panic swells to new levels, leading to a full blown panic attack. Inside Ten Forward, the others remain, and Kelsey Lapham pops in for a brief moment, before they all receive a missive from the Admiral to join him for their ‘meetings’ with him. This announcement brings an end to Vahtter’s birthday celebration for all. Meanwhile, the corridor Darby determines the only option is to take Alex to sickbay as the poor child is extremely distraught. After he carries her off, Joey heads to her quarters, feeling very miserable about everything that had just happened with Alex and Darby.

Once in sickbay, Darby contacts Boribeth, who comes from the holodeck to treat Alex. Alex is still very distressed and shortly after Boribeth arrives, she realizes that the bed she is lying on is the same one that her father had been on when he had been so severely injured. In a moment of sheer distress, Alex catapults herself off the bed and lands hard on the floor, injuring her wrist. Boribeth, realizing that Alex’s distressed is being worsened by the location, takes her into her own private office, where she heals her wrist and manages to calm the child down enough that she finally falls asleep peacefully. Boribeth, nearly asleep on her own feet, is saved from having to keep watch over the little girl when Darby offers to do so. Boribeth leaves to take a nap, and while Alex also naps, Darby falls asleep. When Alex awakes, she is no longer as panicked as she was before, but she wants time to think and try and feel better. So, without telling anyone she leaves sickbay. At around the same time, the internal sensors of the ship are taken down due to problems that need repairing. Once Darby realizes that Alex is gone, he contacts Boribeth. It is soon evident that she did not return to her quarters, and with the sensors down they are unable to locate the mission child. A ship-wide alert for a manhunt to find the child is sent out. Many people come to sickbay to help or learn more including Lt. Koval, Admiral Haynes, Commander Jones, and Ensign Caine, while others begin to search the ship for the missing child.

Calleigh Caine takes her puppy and searches the arboretum, but doesn’t find Alex. Robin Star heads to one of the cargo bays, hoping to find the young girl. While there, Joey Vista, having heard the message, joins him. The two search the cargo bay and try and think of other good locations to search when they find no sign of Alex. Robin heads to the computer core, while Joey heads to the classrooms. Neither is able to locate the missing child. Lt. Liz Sur’shess joined in the search, checking out many of the more obvious locations on the ship and hoping to come up with an idea as to where Alex might be. Daniel Gallagher and Vahtter meet in the counselor’s office to begin a search together. After discussing various options, they decide to head to engineering and look for the little girl there. While on their hunt, they discuss Daniel’s dog and how he named it after his deceased wife, Mona. Conrad and Ariel opt to search for Alex near the warp core as Ariel remembered Alex commenting about the core before. They head to the Jeffries Tubes and begin a crawl through the space, hoping to find Alex.

Meanwhile, Darby, who is blaming himself for the whole situation frantically searches for Alex. He ends up in the shuttlebay when the captain’s empty shuttle returns. Even with this new set of news, his focus is on finding Alex. Some of the people who were in the shuttlebay offer to help him with the search. Before they get a chance to set off, however, Kathleen Hyra pops in, also looking for Alex. She manages to speak to Darby for a short while and when he mentions how much Alex liked his penguin interpretation back in Ten Forward, Kathleen has a brainstorm. Literally grabbing Darby, she hurries off to the Cetacean Labs, hoping to find Alex. Amazingly enough, they do. It appears that Alex had climbed up on the top of one of the tanks, wanting to be close to the dolphins. She accidently falls backwards into an empty tank, which is rather deep and has no means of escape. Thankfully, the soft sand at the bottom cushions her fall quite a bit, but the little girl drifts in and out of a sleepy state. Over time, she becomes cold, suffering from some mild hypothermia.

As soon as Kathleen and Darby realize they have found the child, they contact those involved in heading up the search. Within moments, a rescue team, headed by Vahtter arrives. During that time, Darby climbed up the outside of the tank and dropped inside to try and protect Alex from any more harm. In the process he manages to break his own ankle. Once the medical team arrives, and Kathleen finds a rope ladder for the inside of the tank, it doesn’t take them long to get both Darby and Alex back out of the tank and on their way to sickbay.

In sickbay, Alex is taken under the watchful wing of Boribeth, while Vahtter heals Darby’s ankle. During this time, Kathleen simply observes. Once Darby has been healed, she is surprised to find that Vahtter offers her a slight invitation to join him in Ten Forward. Accepting the invitation, she heads off to meet him there. As soon as she arrives, however, she finds herself joined by Patrick Davidson, the head nurse, who had cared for her back during the Ostatak mission. He had been in Ten Forward doing a half-hearted search for Alex and had remained when the search was called off. When Vahtter arrives, some animosity between Patrick and he begins to develop as they both seem interested in getting to know Kathleen. When Kathleen leaves to get some nourishment, the two men have some words together, and then Vahtter is forced to watch as Patrick sidles up close to Kathleen, touching her. An act that is reserved only for those who are very close in Vahtter’s culture. When Kathleen returns, alone, to the table, she and Vahtter have a chance to discuss this and some other things. When their encounter ends, it seems that both are looking forward to a possible meeting again in the future. At that same time, Patrick goes off to join a discussion that is taking place between Tikal and Conrad. However, when he notices that Vahtter has left, he joins Kathleen and the two decide to take a walk together around the ship.

Back in sickbay, Alex receives treatment for her injuries and a frightening announcement reaches the ears of all but the young child. The shuttle carrying Brice, Jack and Trixie has returned without the crew. This news is devastating to both Boribeth, who has developed a relationship with Jack, and Lia, who has had a long-term relationship with Brice. As soon as the ship is repaired, Lia heads to the bridge to send the Crudaigh on a rescue mission. Back in sickbay, Boribeth and Koval, who had been using Boribeth’s office as the headquarters for the search, have a chance to talk about many things while Alex recovers. During this time, the admiral’s assistant, Lt. Scott Hireen shows up and seems especially interested in speaking to Alex and then later Boribeth. Boribeth does not trust this man and asks Koval to keep a watchful eye on Alex when she leaves the room. When she returns, Boribeth tries to gently tell Alex the news of her father’s disappearance. At first, Alex begins to panic again, but Boribeth manages to reassure the child. Alex, Boribeth and Koval spend some more time together in Boribeth’s office as the Crudaigh hurries to the rescue.

Finally, word reaches sickbay that they have found the away team. Jack arrives first, followed shortly by Brice. At first, both seem to be in fine health, but soon, Jack begins to suffer some serious breathing trauma caused by miniscule particles that he picked up on the planet. Brice, on the other hand, is virtually unharmed. After making sure that a rescue team is dispatched to Lt. Dray who was unable to be beamed up due to her location, Brice has a heart-warming reunion with his daughter. Hearing some parts of the news about what had taken place, he wants nothing more than to get her out of sickbay. When he re-emerges from the office, he notes that Trixie is back on the ship, safe from harm. He quickly makes his way to Boribeth to verify that he can take his daughter away, and when given the go-ahead, he does just that, needing to give the child his full devotion and attention after all that had happened.

Still in sickbay, Trixie, though seriously injured refuses treatment and has herself transported to her quarters against the wishes of the medical staff. She is distraught and dealing with the demons of her own past. After treating Jack for his illness, Boribeth spends some quality time with him in her office and the two soon find themselves making their own site-to-site transport – to their quarters.

Having tucked his daughter into bed, where she slept soundly, Brice pays a visit to Lia in her quarters. The two share some moments that only confirm their love for each other, which they had never truly realized back in their days at the academy. Deciding that now is their time to enjoy together, Brice joins Lia for a night meant just for them.

Following all the hustle and bustle of the away mission, the crew settles down into some other activities. Lt. Cmdr. Topak writes up a report on the mission while in his office, and then drops it off for the captain while on duty on the bridge. Robin Star has a chance to meet Lt. Hireen when the admiral’s assistant joins the bridge for the rescue mission. When all is quiet again, the two venture off together to various places of the ship. At one point, Liz contacts Robin and invites him to join her in the holodeck to finish some activities that he previously started. Liz heads off to the holodeck and soon so do Robin and Scott. What they find is that the holodeck is already in use by Pesh’ewa and Famke. Pesh’ewa, wanting to try something new, had started up a program to learn how to by the Earth game of volleyball. Soon Famke had joined him, and after a few nearly disastrous attempts to get the ball back and forth over the net, Liz, Robin and Scott show up and ask to join. Soon, the two teams begin playing. The game is enjoyed by all until a glitch of some sort causes the program to shut down.

The glitches, it turns out, have been noticed by the engineering department. Kelsey, Valad, and Ariel to be exact. The three, who end up working together in engineering, find the problems, not the oddity of them all, and manage to fix them up without too much difficulty. All seems well with the ship as the crew heads off for some real rest and relaxation on the plant Arenar.

Plot Event: Planet Arenar

Stardate 65915
Date: Dec 1, 2388
Approximate Real Time Dates for this Mission: December 2008

Location: USS Crudaigh and Planet Arenar

Upon arriving at the Planet Arenar, many of the crew begin to beam down to the planet’s surface. Marcel Darby is one of the first to arrive to find that the natives of the planet have planned a rather large luau celebration. He is soon joined by Lt. Daniel Caine, Lt. Balazar Jos, and Lt. Kelsey Lapham. They all enjoy the food and other parts of the celebration. Soon, Darby is ‘invited’ up onto the stage to be part of a native dance demonstration. Feeling a bit sheepish, he does participate, especially after Kelsey joins him. Shortly, thereafter, Ensign Kathleen Hyra beams down and watches the events at the Luau before everyone begins to head off to other locations.

Back on the ship, Lt. Talisa Westgarth arrives as the new assistant chief science officer. She joins Captain Kavanaugh for a brief meeting before she heads to sickbay for her initial physical. She and Ensign Vahtter engage in some conversation as he conducts her initial scans. They discuss their interesting genetic makeups before the exam ends and both head off to finish other tasks and prepare to visit the planet.

Also, on the ship, Commander Boribeth Sunland encounters some serious problems in her quarters. It appears that either something has malfunctioned in her quarters or that someone might have something against her as the lights in her quarters explode. After requesting the aide of Lt. Cmdr. Jack Carter, they realize that her door circuits have also suffered some problems. After doing what needed to be done to repair the damage, the two discuss plans for some relaxation time on the planet, including some sailing together. Before deciding to meet together on the planet in a short time, they also discuss the fact that they will need to share their now growing relationship with their superior officers at some point.

Once Boribeth and Jack arrive on the planet, they enjoy some good quality time together. Their playful exuberance continues as they head down to the shore to get a boat for sailing. As they zip through the water on their boat, they never see the little speeding jetski that carries one rather young member of the crew, Alex Kavanaugh. Before any of them have a chance to react, the jetski and boat collide, sending Alex into the waters of the planet. Jack and Boribeth quickly realize what has happened and hurry back to rescue the young girl. As soon as Boribeth, who jumped in the water to save Alex, gets her up to Jack on the boat, events turn rather frightening. Boribeth, who should have easily followed Alex up onto the boat, vanishes, pulled under by some shark-like creatures of the planet. Jack, realizing something is wrong, grabs his phaser to do whatever he can to help her. Between Boribeth’s struggles and Jack’s phaser fire, they finally manage to get everyone safely onboard the boat. Jack and Boribeth inform the others that they have Alex and that she is safe, and once all three are feeling a bit rested after their ordeal, Jack and Boribeth agree to take Alex with them as they explore some of the local beaches. Alex’s attempts at sailing are a bit wild, as she guns the engine. Things do settle down some as she starts to learn how to drive and steer the boat. However, their peace is short-lived as Alex’s somewhat erratic skills send them hurtling into a rock. By the time Jack and Boribeth realize this and try to stop it, they find themselves already scraping metal to rock. It seems a perfect opportunity to spend some time off the water and on one of the planet’s many beaches.

The three explore the beach, play a bit in the sand and water, and simple enjoy the chance to relax away from the stress of the Crudaigh. Not only does this trip afford Alex with her first boat driving lesson, but her first chance to use a real honest to goodness phaser to start a real fire, under the watchful eye of Jack, of course. As night settles around them, the three begin to settle down for a nice, quiet evening under the stars. Alex soon falls asleep, allowing Boribeth and Jack some more private time together. During part of their conversation, Boribeth reveals to Jack that she is unable to have children of her own. Something which their encounter with Alex has brought up between them. While both may have held a wish for children in their hearts, their love for each other is far greater. Knowing that they have both found someone to truly care about, they soon fall asleep as well. Come morning, Jack prepares a delicious breakfast for both ladies. However, their time on the beach is soon interrupted by a slightly unexpected visitor….

Meanwhile, on other parts of the planet…

Ensign Matt Simmons is exploring the main thoroughfare of shops set up on the planet. He is soon joined by Ensign Kinin and in the distance one of the younger members of the crew, Anthony Dawn. It appears that Anthony is causing a bit of mischief as he swings above some of the stalls and ends up landing right smack down inside one of them. Brice happens upon the scene at just that moment. Having seen the problems Anthony has caused, he has a few words with the young boy. He is joined by Ensign Kinin who has come over to offer her support. Anthony agrees to go back and help clean up the mess that he helped create, while Brice heads off to do a bit of shopping of his own and Kinin returns to Matt’s side. Kinin suggests that they explore the planet a bit more while riding on a zip line. Matt, seemingly a bit reluctant, decides to join her as does Lt. Daniel Caine. Also around the marketplace, Senneh Orim sets off on a search for some cakes, she finds a jewelry stall that catches her interest. Her payment comes as a beautiful song traditional to her people.

Also browsing the marketplace are Marcel and Kelsey, who having left the Luau, head to a fortune teller/palm reader. While there, the woman has some pleasant things to say to Kelsey, but seems to quickly shy away from Marcel after just one glance at his hand. A bit shaken at first, the two brush it off and head back out into the marketplace. Finding a stall that sells hats, scarves and clothes, the two explore for a bit and are ‘joined’ by Anthony, who tries to pass himself off as the son of the stall owner. It is obvious through these encounters that Marcel and Kelsey are developing a bond between them. Anthony hurries off when the native owner returns, and after purchasing a jester’s hat, Marcel and Kelsey head off together for a pleasant ride around the planet.

Marcel leads Kelsey through the land until they reach an awaiting carriage. After a pleasant ride together through different parts of Arenar, the two arrive in front of a large building. Once inside, they find that the building houses luxurious pools of water. After selecting a rather bright pair of swim trunks, Darby heads back to the warm spring water where Kelsey too has donned a bathing suit. The two share a few close moments as they enter the water and then they discuss things that make them happy in life and various other soul-searching type questions. After having shared a joyous time together, the two finally return to the Crudaigh, feeling perhaps a bit closer than they had before.

On other parts of the island, Commander Liandra Jones can be found gazing upon the water, skipping a few stones across the surface and contemplating deep thoughts about her life. She is soon joined by none other than the captain. Brice presents her with a gorgeous gem that matches her eyes that he procured from one of the natives, and the two head off, hand in hand, to share some quiet, private time between them. They are soon, however, interrupted by a strange fin in the water. While it looks like a shark, it is in fact Anthony, looking to stir up a bit of mischief. Lia, unknowing what lurks below the surface of the water, hurls a stone at the creature. She and Brice get a quick glimpse of the young boy from their ship before he hurries off, leaving them once more alone. Brice leads Lia to a secluded area near the shore that has obviously been set up for a romantic dinner for two. His plans seem to work out for the best, as Lia appears thrilled by his efforts. After sharing a pleasant dinner together, including an almost sinful dessert, Brice leads Lia to an even more secluded place. Walls of stone surround a glorious hot spring pool of water, while a very cozy looking tent designed to make this night a night for them both to enjoy and remember.

Meanwhile, Kinin has led her group, which includes Daniel and Matt to zipline that would allow them an exhilarating look at the planet. While Matt still seems a bit reluctant, Kinin sets everything up with one of the natives. Before they manage to set off, Anthony appears, having recovered from his ‘encounter’ with the captain and commander and asks to join them on their thrilling ride. They are also joined by Lt. Liz Sur’Shess, leading to the first encounter between the two Klingon females. Even though she is assaulted by thoughts of prejudice at the half Klingon, Kinin agrees to have Anthony and Liz join them on their ride. Anthony decides that riding on the roof of the transport vehicle would be more fun than riding inside, and Liz joins him. When Kinin tries to warn them of their own danger, the transport carriage tilts just enough to send her tumbling down to the ground. Anthony, feeling guilty and wanting to help, leaps off the vehicle, manages to grab a vine, but soon ends up falling to the ground where he is knocked unconscious. Liz gets the vehicle stopped and goes to aid the fallen. Matt in his hesitation missed the launching of the transport. Torn between heading back to the ship or waiting, he soon hears the disruption caused by Kinin and Anthony’s falls and hurries to offer his own help. When Kinin awakes she determines that the best answer to her own situation is to return to the ship, while the others keep watch over Anthony. When he awakes, he is concerned about what happened to Kinin. Liz has Anthony transported to the ship as well, and Matt also decides that he has had enough of the planet. Liz and Daniel continue the ride for a bit after, talking between them.

Talisa soon beams down to the planet and crosses paths with her department chief, Jos. Both seem a bit taken with each other and unsure of things at the same time. The two walk and talk together, including a rather interesting discussion about religion. After asking Talisa if anything was bothering her, Talisa reveals her feelings for Jos and then quickly leaves. The two then head back to the ship, each to his/her own place to contemplate the events of the day.

On another part of the planet, Ensign Joanna Vista is joined by her roommate Kathleen Hyra for a tour of some parts of the planet while mounted on a Zaharan (an animal similar in some ways to a horse or other beast of burden). After setting off to take in some of the sights with their native guide, they are joined by Vahtter. As the three traveled together, Vahtter and Kathleen seemed drawn towards each other. Soon, they approach a special crystal on the planet. It as almost as though the crystal creates some strange side-effect in Kathleen combined with her own bodies state. She soon is assaulted with some odd happenings and feelings, almost as though she is hearing the animals in a new way and at times seeming to ‘become one’ with them. Vahtter, noting that something seems amiss, tries to help when Kathleen falls from her animal. A sudden ripple of intense shock and pleasure seems to leap from Kathleen to Vahtter when he tries to help her. After running from the experience, Vahtter returns and confronts Kathleen. It is then that she explains how her Halliian heritage creates certain times of intense feelings for her. Then, taken over by these feelings, she crosses a line and actually touches Vahtter uninvited. In anger, her slaps her and returns to the Crudaigh. Feeling horrible, Kathleen tells Joey that she has to go and also returns to the Crudaigh.

After his evening spent with Liandra, Brice seeks out Alex in the morning. Arriving on the beach where Alex, Jack and Boribeth spent the night, Brice has a chance to speak with his two officers. They share with him the news that they are seeing each other, and feeling rather good about his own growing relationship, he hardly bats and eye at their declaration before heading off to enjoy some father-daughter time with Alex. Their adventure ends as the Crudaigh begins to experience some technical glitches once more.

Meanwhile…On the Crudaigh…throughout the course of their visit to Arenar…

Lt. Trixie Angel Dray and Lt. JG Robin Star spend some time talking together, sharing stories, and getting to know one another. After discussing things from hobbies, to combat, to Klingon, Robin suggests the two engage in some Klingon lesson together before heading off to his quarters. Once there, he falls asleep and is soon assaulted by some nightmares.

After the mis-adventures on the zip line on the planet, Kinin returns to the ship. While setting off to do some work in the security offices, she is joined by Anthony who has come to apologize for what happened on the planet. Kinin challenges Anthony to think about what he hopes to do…other than causing trouble. The conversation that ensues indicates a growing bond between the two.

Meanwhile, after her own mis-adventures on the planet, Kathleen is feeling horrible. The strange sensations she had been experiencing on the planet have not subsided and she knows she has now ruined any chance of friendship with Vahtter. Feeling terrible, she sends a message to Vahtter and cries. Hearing her cries, Talisa enters the science lab and tries to help her fellow science officer. Hoping to help after hearing some of Kathleen’s tale, Talisa completes a scan on Kathleen. The scan shows heightened levels in her hormones and increased activity in her temporal lobe. As another wave of whatever is happening sweeps over her, Kathleen decides the best course of action is to go and lie down.

Also struggling with his own feelings from what happened on the planet, Vahtter heads to the Holodeck and takes out some of his frustrations while climbing and leaping from mountain to mountain. After having enough of that, he heads to Ten-Forward and engages in a conversation with Senneh. He reveals some of what happened on the planet to her and Senneh tries to help. Much to both of their surprise, Kathleen shows up, looking and feeling terrible, in Ten-Forward. Once she realizes that Vahtter is there and the two exchange words, Kathleen thinks it would be better if she left. However, her body betrays her, as dizziness and nausea stop her from leaving. Torn between wanting to stay away from her and his duties as a medic, Vahtter, with the help of Senneh, finally intervenes. When he completes the scan, he makes a rash decision. In a matter of moments, he and Kathleen are transported from Ten-Forward to his quarters.

Once there, things finally start to fall into place. It appears that the crystal on the planet has sent Kathleen’s body into overdrive as it effected a part of her Haliian nature. Vahtter, realizing that her body is in tachycardia, does the only thing he knows can and will allow her to expend the strange excess energy she picked up from the crystal. Both get exactly what they need from each other. Once things have settled between them, Vahtter, his eyes as cold as ice, sends Kathleen from his room. It appears that any chance of even friendly banter between them is now forever ruined.

In other parts of the ship, Lt. JG Pesh’ewa is working and monitoring things in engineering. Knowing he has the space pretty much to himself, he opts to ‘try out’ the chief engineer’s seat. Which happens to be the exact same moment that Kinin arrives on her rounds. The two have a chance to talk and realize there are some things that their cultures have in common. Their conversation is, however, cut short as the ship begins to report errors caused by the unknown glitches that have been appearing recently. Realizing that the problem is getting worse, Pesh’ewa summons Jack back to engineering as well as informing the captain.

These glitches, which have been noted since before their arrival at Arenar seem to have something to do with what is about to happen next…

Plot Event: Deception, Doppleganger, and Decoy

Stardate 65941
Date: December 10, 2388
Approximate Real Time Dates for this Mission: January-Early February 2009

Location: USS Crudaigh and the planet Ellusia

Basic Plot Intro/Teaser:
(A full scale plot summary will be included in a second post when and if I have time to write it for this particular plot!! Life events from January have seriously hindered my writing of this plot summary!)

The crew receives a call from the planet Ellusia. This planet requests that the crew of the Crudaigh send a diplomatic party to aid them in their time of need. Unable to deny a request for assistance, the Crudaigh sends a small away team to the planet.

Meanwhile, the ship is experiencing some strange fluctuations. All of which are traced to the same strange error (This is the same situation that some of the crew picked up on during the end of the last mission).

As the away team returns to the ship, having completed their mission, the Crudaigh receives a distress call from a ship, in orbit around a planet not far from their location, that has been attacked by another race and left to drift, helpless in space. Setting off to their rescue, the away team who has returned seem different in small ways.

Once the ship arrives at the planet, they find no disabled shuttle and no trace of any battle. Confused they remain in orbit to scan the planet for life-forms, debris anything. At this time, the returned away team members begin to act even stranger.

With a strange twist, the away team members commit mutiny and a large ship appears in the sky. The away team members, who turn out to be dopplegangers (or look-alikes) for the real away team, who have been held prisoner on the planet all this time, allow the Crudaigh to be boarded by more of their race, who quickly herd the crew and all on the ship into cells in the Brig and hold them captive in the Cargo Bays. Of course, it turns out that all the strange errors found on the ship and the distress calls were created by this race as part of their plot to capture the newest and fastest ship in all of Starfleet.

How will the Crew escape and reclaim their ship? What happened to the real away team members? Why does this species want the Crudaigh in the first place?

Plot Event: Lifeblood

Stardate 65964
Date: December 19, 2388
Approximate Real Time Dates for this Mission: February-late April 2009

Location: USS Crudaigh, Starbase, mining facility

Basic Plot Intro/Teaser:
Amidst some routine supply trading, the crew becomes aware of a compound in a nearby nebula which has almost legendary properties as a clean, ultra-efficient energy source.

The Crudaigh eagerly goes to investigate, but when news of accidents and tragedies at the mining facility reach their ears, is everything really as it seems, or is it all too good to be true?

Plot:

The Crudaigh arrives at a Starbase following their harrowing adventures with the Ellusians. Many crewmembers are suffering as a result of the Ellusian ordeal and find themselves battling demons in very different ways.

Ensign Kinin, Lt. JG Pesh'ewa and Lt. Elizabeth Khalest Sur'Shess, while in Ten Forward, decide to engage in a Klingon training exercise in the holodeck to help Pesh'ewa fight his anger. The three of them have a great time and, in a moment of elation, Pesh'ewa kisses Kinin. The two are caught off guard and brush the incident aside. Lt. Denara Scaro, in her attempt to overcome her frustrations, tries her hand at the firing range until she is called away. Lieutenant Trixie Dray battles the punching bag.

Lt. JG Robin Star finds himself in Sickbay, his betazoid abilities running amok in his brain. He is treated and Commander Boribeth Sunland shares a personal experience with Robin, which helps him deal with a few long term emotional issues. Robin then goes to the Holodeck to say goodbye to one of these memories. Later, Robin, still frustrated, ends up back in Sickbay after disabling the safety devices in the holodeck.

Crewman Hudson Campbell takes a moment to get a beauty treatment at the base and overhears gossip about a new energy source. Concurrently, Robin, healed from his two Sickbay visits, also overhears gossip while shopping. In addition, he hears a disturbing snippet of conversation which brings him to believe the ship's rebel youngster, Anthony Dawn, to be held in a room with Klingons. What he doesn't know is that Ensign Kinin had stumbled upon the young lad while Anthony was having a rather teary-eyed conversation with Ensign Tikal Rawlings. To console Anthony, she had arranged a special meeting in the Klingon lounge. Robin bursts in, insults a Klingon, word gets out that the ship is carrying something valuable, an elder Klingon gets interested, Anthony gets drunk, and Kinin leaves before a huge fight breaks out, sending both Anthony and Robin to Sickbay.

Cliff, Joey and Hudson attempt to rescue Cliff's bird.

A new Counselor has come on board, Lieutenant Joseph Monroe. While checking into his office, he notices an unusual smell and begins having allergic reactions. He calls Ensign Joanna Vista to his office to get acquainted with his assistant. Joey, in her bubbly style, had been in the holodeck playing out a favorite program whilst wearing a frilly dress. Joe is surprised when she arrives at his office still wearing the costume. They have a nice chat until Hudson arrives to clean the office. Hudson initially thinks Joey is a patient of Joe's due to the outfit the assistant counselor is wearing.

Once Joe finishes with Joey, he heads to the pool and meets Lieutenant Kelsey Lapham, who is still grieving the loss of Marcel Darby. Vahtter shows up, paddles around a bit, and the three of them eventually leave, all wrinkled and warm from the pool.

Boribeth and Commander Jack Carter have been having relationship difficulties and Commander Liandra Jones gives Jack advice. Boribeth shows up at Jack's quarters and, after a moment of confusion as to why Lia is in his quarters, Boribeth and Jack begin to talk things over, eventually confessing their fears.

Hudson tries to relax by watching the sweaty, buff guys in the gym and engages Robin in conversation. Before the two are done, Robin plants a large kiss on Hudson before running away. Hudson then is called to clean up the bloody mess Robin left behind in the holodeck, only to find Lia enjoying a moment of solitude. Not one to wait, Hudson tells her she needs to stop the program. Hudson not-so-subtly hits on the Commander. Lia brushes her off and leaves.

Calleigh celebrates a death and gets into an arguement with Vahtter. Joey and Joe try to mediate, but Calleigh leaves without a resolution.

The rumors reach the ears of the crew and a sample of the substance is sent to the Science Lab. Ensign Kathleen Hyra, Ariel Dawson, Lieutenant Denara Scaro and Ensign Matt Simmons evaluate the substance and some heated words are spoken, especially between Denara and Matt. Matt storms out of the lab after saying his piece. While fuming in the hallway, Matt encounters Hudson, who gets him to smile and the two wander off to Ten Forward.

Senneh Orim finally wakes from her coma, to find Lieutenant Scott Hiram is still by her side. Boribeth arrives, giving Senneh her after-care instructions, though there are a few tense moments between the two.

After leaving the Klingon lounge, Kinin follows the elder Klingon to his ship where she befriends a crewmember and gains access to the vessel. She learns of the plans to attack the Crudaigh, but when Kinin tries to leave, the crewmember attacks her and violates her. Kinin returns to Sickbay and instructs Lieutenant Koval of the Klingon elder's plans. The new ACMO, Dr. Gregory Barlow, has been treating Robin and Anthony and Koval orders Kinin to stay and be treated as well.

The investigation of the mysterious substance continues, and Kathleen almost passes out from a strange empathic feeling. Ensign Vahtter rushes to her side, having set up a monitoring program to keep tabs on her because of her pregnancy. Thoughts that the substance might be a lifeform begin to circulate. Vahtter takes Kathleen to Sickbay.

Joey and Conrad form a bond while in Joey's quarters and later in the holodeck, where Conrad takes Joey flying.

Tikal takes a moment in Ten Forward and is soon joined by Cliff and Senneh. Tikal leaves and Hudson arrives with Matt. After a few funny moments, Senneh leaves, distracted, while inadvertently insulting Hudson. Hudson runs off with Cliff at her heels.

Trixie stands guard in Ten Forward and Boribeth apologizes to her for a past incident. The two talk for a few minutes until Trixie reveals her feelings about the Captain and men, which angers Boribeth. Boribeth leaves, intent on discussing the matter with Commander Jones. Anthony sits behind them, listening.

Kinin, released from Sickbay, visits Pesh'ewa in engineering. Pesh'ewa is in a crawlspace and gets his fur caught. Kinin tries to climb in and gets stuck herself. After a few funny moments, they both get free, though Pesh'ewa is encountering some feelings for the security officer.

Robin wanders the hallways and meets Alex Kavanaugh. The two chat about flying and end up at the Cetacean tanks. A new friendship is building.

Having left Ten Forward in an emotional state, Hudson goes aboard the Captain's yacht to a hidden space. As it turns out, it is her secret area, complete with wine and a place to sleep. Cliff follows her and he tells a story about his blood brother. Just as he finishes, Ensign Kinin investigates a report that Cliff is on the ship. Hudson leaves through an escape hatch, but Cliff is too large to fit through. After not getting the answers she wants, Kinin takes Cliff to the Brig and contacts Liandra about the matter. The Commander questions the activities director and has Hudson brought to the brig. Hudson breaks down and eventually Liandra decides to give both a second chance, but is very clear that this will be their only chance.

All signs are pointing to the nebula actually being a lifeform. This is finally confirmed when Robin and Liz both make contact with the creature. The Captain informs Starfleet and then makes a shipwide announcement, which is touching and inspiring to the crew.
